Cutting Notching and Punching Services

Notching

Corner notching machines are used to cut out a 90 deg section from varying types and thicknesses of sheet metal with a V shaped blade. The corner or corners of a sheet of material can be removed to provide clearance allowing two sides or more to be folded up such as in a shallow tray or box. This clearance cut can be made in a single operation, the cutting action itself being the same as that of a guillotine, top and bottom hardened steel blades acting against each other to shear the sheet.

CNC Punching

A CNC punching machine is basically programmed to move a sheet of metal in an x and y direction so as to accurately position the sheet under the machine’s punching ram ready to punch a hole or form. The choice of hole punched can be as simple as a circle or rectangle right through to special shapes to suit a specific cut out design. The machine may also punch 3D forms such as dimples, taptite® screw thread plunges, and electrical knockouts etc on either side of the sheet, which are often employed in sheet metal enclosure design.

At Aller Engineering we use a Shape twenty station auto index punching machine with a large selection of punches to suit round holes square cut outs and slots, as well as a varied selection of profiling punches.
